It is a never ending battle trying to improve or maintain the ranking of your website on Google, Yahoo and Bing. I have received some advice lately from Mark over at brand5.com. He has some great suggestions on SEO and improving your pagerank. My most recent step, as advised by Mark’s recent article on about.com was to suggest my url to dmoz.org, aka ODP.

I originally started out trying to gain the top spot for Camdenton web design. I have basically acheived this. I am #1 or 2 on the big 3 search engines. I hope that blogging about working and living in Camdenton will continue to keep my site well listed. As time progresses I hope to be the first person anyone in Camdenton calls when they need application development or a website design.

So with the first keyword pair looking good I am now concerned with my placement for Osage Beach web design. There are more businesses in Osage Beach than Camdenton and several designers already laying claim to top search results when using Google or Yahoo. On Google when searching for my site I actually find the domaintools.com lookup of my domain, page 2, prior to finding my website entry for Tonka Park, page 5. Google has been dissapointing me lately. So I use Yahoo as my search engine with Google Chrome browser. Go figure.

Bing actually puts me at #2 returning my Tonka Park website sandwiched between two DreamStone Media links.

DreamStone Media seems to hold the search result lead in Osage Beach when it comes to web design. I haven’t met Tim Badolto yet but it looks like he has been in the area for several years. Â Hopefully, there is room in the Lake of the Ozarks for another web designer and application developer.

I have been developing enterprise and small business databases and applications for several years now and think I have the ability to differentiate myself from the rest of the designers in the area with my skill set.

So am I the next Camdenton web design and development company or the next Osage Beach web design and development company? Perhaps one day I can aspire to be a Lake of the Ozarks web design and development company. One town at a time.

I have been working quite a bit on my new website, Tonka Park, the last 2 weeks. I am trying to make my site look clean and professional and attract new clients.

When we moved to town I began watching for business cards, billboards and other advertising that had websites listed. I wanted to find out who had websites and what the quality of the websites was for the local businesses.

I have found that all the Realtors in the Ozarks have a website, most having paid the same company for a template website that some 1000+ Realtors probably have elsewhere in the United States. The larger chains or franchises have a website but it is always something maintained by the corporate location in some other major city. Then there are the majority of places that have nothing on the internet except phone book entries which are usually only good for a phone number and sometimes you can get an address, if that is all you were looking for. Finally, there is the small, but bigger than I first observed, group that have websites for their business or organization that was either designed by a friend or contracted to a web design professional.

Part of my search for these company sites is to find targeted clients and also find out if there are companies or individuals offering similar services that I am offering through my Tonka Park web design site. It took some time to find these local businesses or individuals offering domain hosting and registration, email hosting, web design, and computer support. This list is incomplete but these are the professionals that I will begin with to compare my services and I want my clients to know what else is available to them in the area.

http://vbmedia.com/

http://cdoc.net/

http://hip2click.com/

http://www.beaboutweb.com/home.htm

http://www.osagebeachwebdesign.com/

http://www.djonesassoc.com/webpages.htm

http://www.lakeoftheozarkswebsitedesign.com/

I will work to differentiate myself from this list so that I can show value in my product. Maybe even some day I will meet these individuals and work with them.

I take pride in my work and want my clients to know that while I may not offer the lowest priced services I will produce stylish, clear and simple designs that will benefit their organization. Whether I am designing a website, database application, business cards or hosting websites and email I will get the job done well. A website is an extension of a company image. Company advertising, billboards, business cards and store fronts are all carefully designed and arranged, shouldn’t the website for your company be given the same attention? With more and more people using the internet to compare products and services it is necessary to have a professionally designed website to improve conversion rates.

Spending the last 13 years in Arizona I have come accustomed to eating Mexican food on regular basis. On arriving here in Camdenton, MO we were interested in finding some good Mexican food.

Our first sit down dinner out after getting the house unpacked was to El Jimador, in Osage Beach. The atmosphere was similar to many old style restaurants we have been to before. First impressions always are based on the chips and salsa at any Mexican restaurant. Both were good. I tried a steak burrito and my wife had a taco salad. She enjoyed hers while I being a bit more picky was not impressed by the steak. I felt it was a bit chewy. Next time I will try the chicken. I did enjoy a cheap Sam Adams on draft, which was a nice surprise. A Sam Adams for less than $4 would be unheard of at any restaurant we frequented in Arizona.

To provide some exposure to the services I offer I will occasionally review the internet experiences provided by the local businesses.

“El Jimador Osage Beach” results in a number one entry from google. We did not use this website before going nor did we check out any of the numerous reviews found when searching. The website is not the flashiest or best designed but it is not the worst I have seen, likely because it is a template from a website mill.  My wife would prefer to see a full menu for previewing. I did notice a typo in the directions referencing a “Grand Glanz Bridge” instead of the “Grand Glaize Bridge” which I know from driving over on my many trips to Home Depot. Also I think to help the El Jimador brand themselves and create a lasting customer experience they would benefit from including the story from the menu on the website or at least a summary and picture to tie the website to the dining experience. The best I can do is provide the wikipedia entry on Jimador.
