Practicing SEO

As part of my list of services over on my Camdenton web design page I offer search engine optimization (SEO). As part of my own website release I have taken the steps to get my own site better listed in Google and other search engines. This is a bit of practice to get comfortable with the latest tools and techniques in getting high quality page rankings. After only a week my Tonka Park pages are already on the first page or climbing for many searches.

beach burger camdenton - occassionally my site is on the top results based on my article about my experience with Beach Burger.

camdenton web design - my primary keyword phrase to get local business. I am not listed as a business since this is a freelance gig for now, and only a few "phone book" type pages top me in this search. I see myself as the first valid result when searching for website development in the Camdenton area.

Tonka Park - unfortunately I am second behing Ha Ha Tonka State Park, which I have drawn my name from.

As you can see in no time at all some strategic planning can move your website quickly to the top of searches. With some work on back-end development of the webpages themselves and attention to the content you can have your local business reaching new customers through internet searches. My site is running wordpress, a popular blog tool, and there are many plugins and other code changes to use to help search spiders index your page. I am also using Google webmaster tools and the standard sitemap.xml format to help with my rankings.

My next steps will be to work on improving my page ranks for Lebanon web design, Osage Beach web design and Ozarks web design. Many of the results currently on similar searches are from phone book directories and companies in other states using somewhat shady techniques to get search engine traffic. There are about half dozen local web designers that have pages that I have found as well. I will continue to differentiate myself from them. I will talk about that in another post.
